William Cullen Bryant letters and manuscript poem, 1848-1869.

The collection consists of three items: letter to Mrs. L.B. Rand, 5 April 1848, serving as an introduction for Mrs. C.W. Kirkland, Mr. Townsend, and Dr. Bellows and his lady, visiting London; letter to W. D. Howells, 23 Nov. 1869, claiming he will send an extract from his manuscripts as requested, albeit not in a timely manner; also, manuscript poem by Bryant, sent from Rome to George William Curtis, 1858, with the opening line, Oh River, Gentle River, published under the title, Night Journey of a River.
